Reading Nerdiness

Among several books I'm reading, the one that I've spent the most on recently is The Fifth Agreement and I must say - reading this AND learning a new programming language at the same time is interesting. Yes, I had to throw a little computer nerdiness in here too. ;)  At any rate, the book is about the agreements that we make with ourselves without even realizing it & how they affect our perspective on ourselves & the world in general. It has made me realize how much I judge myself based on others or what is "expected" from society, and really look within to start figuring out just what it is I want to do with my life. Helluva time to start, at 37, but I figure better now than never. I haven't gotten too far into the book, or the companion book, so I really can't go deep with this just yet....however, I'd LOVE to hear from those of you who have read it or are currently.

Sh*t My Dad Says

I haven't really posted anything in a minute so I had to share this... Sh*t My Dad Says A 29 year old guy lives with his 74 year old dad so you can imagine the kind of humor. It's good stuff but I've been known to have a somewhat sarcastic sense of humor. LOL

John Grisham Majored in Accounting

Okay, so I'm a little behind on most things these days but did you know that John Grisham majored in Accounting at Mississippi State? And he was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas?!

Read more about John Grisham...

Reading: Lessons in Becoming Myself

I started reading a new book about a week ago in attempt to slow down, if not stop, my latest self-destruct mode. In hopes of knowledge is power I am finally starting to recognize my own cycles in life and the fact that I am (once again) my own worst enemy. At any rate, the book I'm reading is Lessons in Becoming Myself by Ellen Burnstyn.

Who is Ellen Burnstyn?
Most would know her as Chris MacNeil in The Exorcist movie.

Why am I reading it?
About a week ago I had recorded several Oprah shows and decided on watching this particular one about Becoming Yourself. Oprah had several guests as well as clips from interviews from various people but Ellen's story hit home for me on many levels so buying the book was a must. I'm about half-way through reading it and I am extremely glad I made this particular purchase. It's just one more way that someone has touched my life and I hope to learn a little from her story. If nothing else, maybe to recognize my own cycles I tend to do to myself and someday at least slow down & give myself the opportunity to find some peace & happiness.

Inside Job

Groovy spot. There's a groovy little coffee shop here in town that has wireless internet access - for any of you computer nerds like myself that isolate if there isn't an available connection at a potential destination. (LOL) Their food isn't too bad either... At any rate, it's been a pretty good day - school, work, payday, now off to a meeting. Nothing much to say here. I've been reading a new book this past few days - Inside Job: Deep Under Cover as a Corporate Spy.
